WOLF Gaming.net is an online gaming community forum that takes pride
in providing its members a friendly, competitive and clean atmosphere to play their favorite games. WOLF Servers.com is

Stop by and register! "Where Game-Play is Team-Play"
Are you tired of hearing about all these great Ghost Recon servers and not
knowing how to connect to them without going through a player matching service like Ubi.com? Connecting to a GR server
using an IP (Internet Protocol) address is your key to finding good games with good people.
Main Menu
First you will need to make sure that you are connected to the Internet.
Once you are, start Ghost Recon and after the intro movie, you will arrive to the Main Menu.
One of the choices on the Main Menu list is the "Multiplayer" button. Click on it.

Multiplayer Interface
In the "Multiplayer" screen, you will be able to connect to an existing game online, or
host a game on your computer and have your friends connect to it.
If you want to host a game, your friends will need is your IP address.
If you are not sure what your IP address is, click on the "Create Game" button. This will launch your
server and your IP address will be displayed. Just write it down and give it to your friends.
If you are going to play on a LAN (Local Area Network), the server will be displayed on this screen already.
See the "Listed Servers" section on how to connect.
If you want to connect to a GR server that is already running on the Internet, click on the "Internet" tab.

Internet Interface
When you are at the "Internet" interface screen, the lower left of your screen
will display a box that is populated with the numbers "000.000.000.000:0000". Erase those zeros and where they were,
put in the IP address that you want to connect to. Once you are done entering the IP address, click on the "Add"
button.

Listed Servers
So far you have successfully added a GR server to the Internet interface.
When you add the server, the number will be replaced by the name given to that server by the administrator of that server.
It will list:
Ping - The lower the Ping number, the faster the connection is. A low Ping means you will less likely have poor latency.
This allows for smoother game play and less "lag"
Mode - The game-type being played: Team or Co-op
Players - The number of player slots available and the maximum player slots set by the server
Lock - Indicates whether there is a password on the server. If this space has no lock image (seen in the image below) then there is no password needed
Status - Broadcasts what stage of the game the server is in. The three stages are "Playing", "Debrief". and "Joining"
Active Mods - Lists what mods you need to activate to connect to the server. The "mp1" refers to the Desert Siege mission pack.
The “mp2” is the Island Thunder mission pack.
To jump right in, select the server you want to join and hit "Join Game". If a password is needed, you would
enter the password in the "Default Join Password" space prior to hitting "Join Game".

If you want to see a more detailed description of the server,
time left to the next status, and the players connected, click on the "Info" button.
The screen will contain the following information about the server in the image below:

If you want to return to the main list of servers that you have entered, then
hit "Done". You may also join a server by selecting "Join Game" from this screen as well.
Now that you know how to join a GR server via IP, you won't miss out on many of the great games out there.
I expect to see everyone out there in the battlefield! Happy Gaming!
MULTIPLAYER BASICS

So you've decided to play some Ghost Recon,
now it's time to improve on those skills.
It has gotten to the point that I've seen
too many people join games not knowing
what to expect and then leaving frustrated.
Hopefully I can help change this.
Step
1 : Pregame
A) Change your name - Go into options,
under multiplayer it will let you change
your name. This cannot be stressed enough,
countless people get booted due to their
name being "defplyr". This could
be because most friendly fire seems to
come from their direction, it's like wearing
a big sign that says "NEWBIE".
B) Change your controls - Go into
options, under input change your controls.
This doesn't take too long and avoids
you looking confused and asking "what
key is it to ____?" as nobody likes
to answer these questions in the middle
of a fight. Remember to save your key
config.
Step
2 : Joining
A) Pick a Team - Top left of the
screen there are buttons 1 through 4,
these will be coloured if they are active.
Simply pick a team with fewer players
and if one team is all from the same clan
don't join it (this is a quick way to
get yourself booted).
B) Pick a Player - Just above the
team area click on "player",
here you can pick your specialist and
weapon options.
C) Be Ready - Hit that ready button
just to the right of your player area,
while this isn't necessary to start the
game many hosts will not start until everyone
is ready.
Step
3 : Action
A) Be a Team Player - Early on
you'll just be learning the maps, don't
try and be rambo or you'll most likely
just end up getting shot or killing you're
own team. Pick somebody that seems to
be getting a lot of kills and follow him
around, or just follow the group.
B) Watch the Friendly Fire - Murphy's
Law "Friendly fire isn't", check
your map often to make sure nobody is
in your line of fire. If you plan on moving
up check your map first to make sure that
you are not going to run into your teammate
and get trigger happy.
C) Look Like a Pro - Other than
the first 5-10 seconds you want to always
be in the crouched position. This makes
you a much smaller target and can come
in handy when you're under fire.
D) Threat Indicater - Personally,
I like to play without this but if it's
on be sure to use it. You can get the
info on how it works from
here or in the manual. TIP:
If it shows yellow in the area you're
going, turn to the left until it moves
to the right, then turn to the right until
it moves to the left. This will give you
a better idea of where they are.
E) Shuffle Key - Not many use this
but it can prove to be very usefull. It
makes you move slower and thus you can
keep your aim better. TIP: If you're prone
and use shuffle it doesn't slow you down
yet you aim is better.
F) Under Fire - This is the one
area that I see people screw up the most,
so it's getting it's own section.
1.
You should already be crouched, once you're
hearing fire if you are not right next
to a place to hide.... LAY DOWN. WARNING
- Do not stand up or even go crouched
when fire is coming in, you may think
that it will be safe but just because
you can't see them doesn't mean they can't
see you.
2.
Look on your threat indicater, this should
show the direction the fire is coming
from. Now rather than what may seem natural
and trying to get away, turn towards the
fire (this makes you a smaller target).
3. Cover fire is a must at this time,
especially because some of your teammates
may be trying to make a break for it.
Simply guess where he might be and fire
away. Use short bursts, if the enemy hears
full auto they'll know you have no idea
where he is and will not go for cover.
There are some other bonuses to this,
you might get lucky and kill him, or see
the muzzle flash and get a better shot
at them. 4. If you decide to move up,
do so slowly and not all at once. If others
are moving up try to stay still and watch
for enemies. Once they are behind cover,
move up and rejoin the group.
Step
4 : Postgame
A) Don't be a Jerk - Maybe you
got a few kills and feel like you're 133t
or whatever the word of the day is. Rubbing
in your victory will just annoy people
and get yourself booted. A friendly gg
(Good Game) or gj (Good Job) will do the
trick.
B) Read A) again.
Well I hope this will help to make you're
Ghost Recon experience more enjoyable,
it's not for everyone but if you're into
true tactical war simulations this is
the game for you. See you on the front
lines, just don't team kill me now.
